BristolReport is a C++ developed software product. All the technical options have been made to provide ease of use, efficiency and robustness to the user.
BristolReport leverages the new WebServices architecture (XMLA) to communicate with Analysis Services over the Web using XML over HTTP. Other more traditional data source links such as ODBO are also available to connect to OLAP Cubes or to build reports using local cubes.
BristolReport complies to the COM object model. An SDK documents the Objects, Interfaces, Methods and Properties. Developers using VBA within Excel or other languages such as VB, C++ or Delphi can benefit from the SDK to integrate BristolReport within a customized application.
XML is used by BristolReport to communicate with XMLA. BristolReport saves also the report definition in an XML format within the .XLS file. When publishing to Microsoft ReportingServices, BristolReport will translate the report content in RDL that happens to be also an XML lingua.
BristolReport is compatible with Excel 2000, Excel XP and Excel 2003
